Stone Mountain is a city in DeKalb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 7,145 at the 2000 census.In latest estimates, 4% of people in Stone Mountain, Georgia have visited a loved one at a drug treatment program for substance abuse treatment.

By 1839 a general store was added and a village was established under the name New Gibraltar. The name was officially changed to Stone Mountain by the Georgia legislature in 1847.
